Sweetbay Sweetbay magnolia is a native southeastern deciduous tree that, depending on location, may be evergreen. We grow it as a multi-trunked specimen with 3-5 trunks. It has 3-5" lemony fragrant white blooms and distinctive medium to dark green leaves with a silvery white back. It has a symmetrical rounded canopy and smooth light gray bark. It can be used as an accent tree, street tree or for naturalization. A moderate grower, it can be kept manageable.
