Myrica cerifera
Waxmyrtle

A prolific southern evergreen, Waxmyrtle is useful as a hedge, screen or can be limbed up to create a specimen plant. It can be kept small or allowed to reach it's maximum height of 25'. It has a wonderful "bayberry candle" scent in spring, can tolerate poor soils and is tolerant of salt spray. Since it fixes atmospheric nitrogen, it can survive almost anywhere. A very fast grower when given good care, it makes a great addition to almost any southern landscape. It's only limitation is snow and ice loads that will split bark and cause splitting of large trunks. Read More--
