Betula nigra
River Birch

River Birch is a native with medium green leaves that turns shades of yellow in fall. The bark exfoliates in large sheets to reveal a tan to beige-white papery underlayer. We grow this as a multi-stemmed specimen with three or more trunks. A fast grower, it has an upright open oval shape. It is tolerant of moist areas and makes a great buffer tree. Great in urban areas. Read More--

Betula nigra
'Fox Valley' Dwarf River Birch

Introduced by Jim King of Oswego, IL, this dwarf birch has a dense, compact, oval-rounded growth habit. It has a glossy medium green foliage and exfoliating bark like the species. It maintains it's oval shape without pruning and makes a wonderful small centerpiece or a shrub mass in damp areas. As wide as it is tall, it is a great alternative to hollies where a winter screen is not necessary. Read More--
