Loropetalum / Fringeflower

A purple-maroon leaved evergreen, 'Zhuzhou' is the most upright form of Loropetalum. We grow it full and tree-form and it makes a very nice large shrub or small tree. The flowers are a deep fuchsia-pink that occur from March to April and often again in the fall. Requires slightly acidic soil and has a fast growth rate. On tree-form plants, the bark exfoliates in large strips. 'Zhuzhou' is an excellent replacement for crape myrtles where something 'different' is desired.  Mature size is 12 to 15 feet high and 10 to 12 feet wide.
