ScientificName:
Betula nigra
Common Name:
'Fox Valley' Dwarf River Birch Introduced by Jim King of Oswego, IL, this dwarf birch has a dense, compact, oval-rounded growth habit. It has a glossy medium green foliage and exfoliating bark like the species. It maintains it's oval shape without pruning and makes a wonderful small centerpiece or a shrub mass in damp areas. As wide as it is tall, it is a great alternative to hollies where a winter screen is not necessary. Mature size is 10-12 feet high and 10-12 feet wide.
