Carolina Cherrylaurel Cherrylaurel is a southeastern native evergreen that has simple ovate soft leaves that are a lustrous dark green. It has a broad pyramidal shape and can tolerate full shade. As an understory tree, it can be used as a screen or accent in places where other species cannot. A fast grower, it prefers well-drained slightly acidic to slightly alkaline conditions. Cherrylaurel will take on a pinkish cast in winter that gives it a unique appearance.
