Betula / Birch

Introduced by Jim King of Oswego, IL, this dwarf birch has a dense, compact, oval-rounded growth habit. It has a glossy medium green foliage and exfoliating bark like the species. It maintains it's oval shape without pruning and makes a wonderful small centerpiece or a shrub mass in damp areas. As wide as it is tall, it is a great alternative to hollies where a winter screen is not necessary.  Mature size is 10-12 feet high and 10-12 feet wide.

This cultivar of River Birch has smaller leaves and has a dense and compact limb structure. It is best known for the ability to maintain a full, lush appearance in hot summer drought conditions. It can be transplanted easier in summer as well. It will tolerate partial shade and loves full sun.
